Mary S. Young Park went to the dogs Saturday for the first Pooch in the Park, an event to benefit Project Pooch.
“It has been great,” said organizer Patti Galle, a West Linn resident. “Everything has been very well received.”
The day, which included a host of activities for dogs and their owners and demonstrations, attracted a steady stream of people despite the steamy weather. All the proceeds went to Project Pooch, an organization that pairs shelter dogs with troubled youths at the McLaren Youth facility in Woodburn.
“We really like it,” said Rachel Ladd, an Oregon City resident, who was at the park with her two daughters and their Great Dane. “It’s a lot of fun.”
Dogs and their owners were able to participate in anything from an obstacle course to a tricks competition to a doggy kissing booth.
