Two WL residents jailed in Polk County

Two West Linn residents are in jail in Polk County on drug charges.

Daniel Morgan, 22, faces multiple felony counts ranging from unlawful delivery and possession of ecstasy, delivery and possession of marijuana to criminal conspiracy.

Kristy Simpson, 30, faces felony counts of criminal conspiracy and unlawful delivery of ecstasy and marijuana.

Authorities arrested the pair after a months-long investigation involving drug distribution from West Linn to the Polk County area.

The case began with the bust of a Western Oregon University student, who was high when he stole a police cruiser during a traffic stop, leading officers on a chase before crashing, according to news reports.

Investigators tracked down the 19-year-old’s drug dealer, who pointed them toward a supplier in West Linn.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, several controlled buys led to the seizure of 89 tablets of ecstasy, about 3 grams of powder used in ecstasy, 30 grams of psychedelic mushrooms and more than a pound of marijuana.

West Linn police assisted Polk County authorities when they served a search warrant at 1780 Sunset Ave. late Dec. 5.

Polk County inmate information checked this week showed bail set at $250,000 each for Morgan and Simpson.
