ADVERTISEMENTS
Hundreds of West Linn residents showed they could dance at last weekend’s annual street dance in the city’s historic Willamette district.
But can they sing?
Residents will channel their inner-performer on Saturday at 10 a.m. when the annual Old Time Fair Parade loops through the Willamette neighborhood. This year’s parade theme, “Gotta Sing, Gotta Dance,” should allow for dancing to different genres of music, artistic expression and a variety of ages participating.
“Anything goes,” said parade organizer Jill Briney, a resident of the neighborhood.
The parade – complete with candy, costumes and Jim Beatty as grand marshal – is always a crowd favorite at the West Linn Old Time Fair, taking place July 17, 18 and 19 at Willamette Park.
Learn more about the festivities at the annual event in its 53rd year within the special section in today’s West Linn Tidings.
West Linn Mayor Patti Galle described the fair as “a memory maker for people.”
“As children, we experience community events that stay with us as adults and we want to pass that along to our children,” Galle said. “The weather, the atmosphere, the food and the fun make for community and livability.”
And locals will have plenty to celebrate with amusement park rides, a classic car show, fair queen coronation ceremony, Little Brutes and Beauties Contest, Maralee Dancers performance, horseshoe tournament and more.
