Edna Watts Fritchie


Edna Watts Fritchie died on Nov. 1, 2009. She was 96.

She was born on Oct. 22, 1913 to Lowell and Rose Anna Watts in Hebron, Neb.

She married Ben L. Fritchie on her 15th birthday, and the two were married for 63 years until he died in l991.

The couple moved from Nebraska to Oregon City in l934. They then lived in Eagle Creek, Estacada, Willamette, Clackamas and then back to a brand new house in Willamette.

The Fritchies owned and operated Willamette Cabinet Shop and Hardware Store in what is now West Linn.

Along with being a full-time mother, homemaker and partner in the cabinet shop, Mrs. Fritchie was also a small-acreage farmer and a lifetime member of the Eagles Lodge in Portland.

Every year she cooked Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner for her entire family. She lived on her own and drove her own car until she turned 94.
