Authorities raided four illegal marijuana-growing operations last week, including ones like these in Eugene as well as one in West Linn.

A major pot raid in Eugene last week led authorities to a 33-year-old West Linn man alleged to have rented several homes solely for space to grow marijuana.

Oregon State Police Lt. Gregg Hastings said Monday that authorities are not releasing the suspect’s name or West Linn address, as charges are still pending.

But the man, a registered grower with the Oregon Medical Marijuana Program, is allegedly tied to four marijuana operations that far surpassed the amount he was allowed to grow.

Following an eight-month investigation, on Nov. 9 Oregon State Police, the Lane County Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team, Drug Enforcement Administration, and Lane County Sheriff’s Office served search warrants at three houses located next to each other on Wilkes Drive in Eugene.

There, they seized more than 1,000 marijuana plants, growing equipment and two firearms, authorities said.

However, the houses were uninhabited rentals, according to state police, which led investigators to a fourth home in West Linn, where they found the renter.

And that wasn’t all they found.

Authorities seized another 149 marijuana plants and another firearm in West Linn, according to state police.

The suspect claimed he’d been producing about 13 pounds of usable marijuana every 30 days, selling it for $3,200 per pound.

Under the state’s medical marijuana program, the man, a registered grower for one patient, could possess up to six mature plants, 18 seedlings and 1 ½ pounds of usable pot.

The truth behind medical marijuana ALL FOR PROFIT!

"The suspect claimed he’d been producing about 13 pounds of usable marijuana every 30 days, selling it for $3,200 per pound"

How many patients are buying and using a pound of medical marijuana a month? $3,200.00 a pound who has that kind of money to spend on pain-relievers? So he was really making a couple hundred thousand a month dealing to out of State customers where medical marijuana is not legal at all.

The difference between a worthless stinky weed and $3,200 a pound? Prohibition. No prohibition, no black market.

As long as a stinky weed is worth $3,200 a pound, guess what?? People are going to grow it.

Crazy waste of public resources on a substance that never was a real problem. Thanks to the cops for keeping the supply in check, thus keeping that price high and providing opportunities for under-employed citizens.

Crazy!

$3200x13=$41,600/month. Johnny needs to go back to math class.

Re: Eugene pot raid leads to arrest of West Linn man

I'm so glad that the police have all other crime taken care of and so much extra funding laying around, so that they can spend time and energy on confiscating plants. I sure wouldn't want them wasting time focusing on violent crimes, sexual assaults, or anything like that....

So, how many years now has pot prohibition been going on and how close are we to completely eliminating the heinous and evil scourge of marijuana? (ha ha ha)

Come on USA-wake up on the realities of marijuana and that it's not going away anytime soon. Legalize it, tax it, regulate it and have law enforcement focus on the REAL crimes in society.

"Legalize It!!!!"
