Adeline Leatherberry
Adeline “Addy” (Beaureguard) Leatherberry died Dec. 6, 2009. She was 87.
Mrs. Leatherberry was born Aug. 24, 1922 in Hood River to Victor Beaureguard and Rose McGrory Beaureguard.
She was a teacher by profession, and received her training at Oregon College of Education and Oregon State University. She taught at Petersburg and Seward, Alaska.
While in Alaska, she met Lester Leatherberry, a native of the Beavercreek area. The couple married in Wrangell, Alaska on Nov. 33, 1944.
They had their three children while living in Alaska and then moved to West Linn in 1952.
When they lived in West Linn, the Leatherberrys owned and operated a laundrymat by the present day Albertson’s store on State Street in Lake Oswego and a gas station at the Goodwill collection location on State Street. After their children were grown, the Leatherberrys moved back to Petersburg, where Mrs. Leatherberry worked as an instructional aid until her retirement in the early 1980s.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Joel and Candy Leatherberry and son Les Leatherberry, all of West Linn, and daughter Trudy Stewart of Molalla, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Leatherberry died in June 2002.
