In addition to being one of the best places to live or home to one of the finest school districts, West Linn is also the home of one of Oregon’s best newspapers: the West Linn Tidings.
The staff of the Tidings took home nine awards over the weekend in the Oregon Newspaper Publisher’s Association’s annual Better Newspaper Contest.
This year, the Tidings garnered five first place, two second place and one third place awards. The paper was also honored with one of the Oregon Newspaper Publishers highest awards, a third place General Excellence award. This is the fifth time in the last seven years that the paper has earned this honor.
“We have a great news team,” said publisher J. Brian Monihan. “They work very hard to deliver a great newspaper to the people of West Linn. I’m very proud of our entire staff and appreciative of the many hours they devote to serving our community.”
Nicole DeCosta, Tidings assistant editor, earned two first place awards: Best Educational Coverage and Best Lifestyle Coverage.
