The West Linn Tidings is welcoming two new writers to our team as well as adjusting our staffing to best serve West Linn.

West Linn Tidings editor, Shasta Kearns-Moore, gave birth earlier this month to twin sons. Mother and family are doing well but, as can be expected, Kearns-Moore will be off on maternity leave until late September.

Stepping in to the role of editor is Nicole DeCosta. DeCosta has produced the Tidings the past three months in Shasta’s absence.

DeCosta was promoted to assistant editor earlier this year. A five-year employee with the company, she will continue in her roles as editor for our Homes and Style sections and will now lead our efforts in covering West Linn.

“I have great confidence in Nicole,” said Tidings publisher J. Brian Monihan. “She has a great feel for West Linn, really cares about the community, and is dedicated to producing the best newspaper possible every week. I’m proud of her and for all her accomplishments. She’s doing a great job filling in for Shasta.”

DeCosta can be reached at ndecosta@westlinntidings.com and 503-635-8811 Ext. 109.

Reporter Linda Hundhammer is also assuming additional responsibilities in West Linn and will now be covering West Linn schools. Hundhammer currently writes features, business stories and is our entertainment editor for both the Tidings and the Lake Oswego Review.

Hundhammer can be reached at lhundhammer@lakeoswegoreview.com and 503-635-8811 Ext. 100.

Kara Hansen continues as the lead reporter for the Tidings with a focus on news. New addition Claire Oliver is a recent graduate of Linfield College where she served as one of the newspaper’s editors.

Oliver will be working part time for the Tidings covering features, business stories and a variety of other stories for the paper. In addition to helping the Tidings, Oliver will also be the lead reporter for the Southwest Community Connection, one of the Pamplin Media Group’s monthly newspapers.

Oliver, a native to the Southwest Portland area, attended Lake Oswego High School and graduated from Linfield College in May, where she majored in mass communication.
